If I May, I Would Like to Share an Experience With You, and Get Your Thoughts on It?
Question by : If I may, I would like to share an experience with you, and get your thoughts on it?
If you’ve noticed me before, you probably already know that I am a Christian =)…and if you’ve noticed me recently, it can’t have escaped your notice that I am staunchly pro-life.
Here is my story:
About 19 years ago, I was a volunteer in an abortion alternative center in Phoenix, AZ called “The With Child Center”. I truly felt that I was helping to save the lives of unborn babies…and perhaps I was.
But that isn’t the point. About that time, my fifteen year old daughter found herself unable to deny her young hormones…and the result was that she came to me when she realized that she had missed her second period, to tell me what had happened. I had taken her with me to the Center before, so she knew what I did there, and she was terrified that I would be angry with her.
I told her that we needed to do a test to be sure, but that if she were pregnant, that I would love her and stand beside her no matter what decision she made.
Well, we did the test. Actually, I did it, using materials from the Center and following the procedure I had been taught. And, sure enough, the results were positive.
She decided to have her baby.
I’m not going to say that it was easy for either one of us. Her grandmother, as firmly pro-choice as I am pro-life, was furious. She believed that her grand daughter’s life would be ruined because, she was sure, I was forcing her to have this baby. But the worst thing was watching my little girl struggle to carry her baby. She was very tiny for her age, and Jason was a big baby. In the end, she had to have a C-section, and we almost lost her. Her recovery was difficult, and even I wondered if an abortion might not have been a better option.
But Jason is 19 now, and his mother has never regretted her choice. Rarely have I seen any young girl grow up as beautifully as my little girl, who matured almost overnight. Rarely have I seen the complete commitment to her child as my daughter to her new little boy. And rarely have I known any young man I would be so proud to call my grandson.
I have wondered, at times, whether my stance might not have been, at least in part, formed by my mother’s having told me that if Roe vs Wade had come along a few years earlier, I would not be here. I knew from the coldness in her voice that she meant it, too. When I say “As a former fetus, I protest abortion”, believe me, I know what I am talking about.
And now, Jason says it, too. His great grandmother also let him know that she thought he had destroyed his beautiful and talented mother, and that I should have made her abort him. Little wonder that he is also staunchly pro-life!
Your thoughts??
Anne, the With Child Center was an Abortion ALTERNATIVE center. That means that we helped women in crisis pregnancies find other solutions for their situation that did not include abortion.
I would never volunteer in an abortion clinic, fapeetsake!!
I’m no murderer!!
I would like to stress that my daughter, who was always an independent little brat anyway (I love her SOOOOO much), made her OWN choice.
I am sure that she was influenced by my own pro-life stance, but I told her, and she knew that I meant it, that I would love her and that I would support any choice that she made, even if she decided to abort.
She made her OWN decision. All I did was to give her the love and encouragment she needed to carry it through.

Do as you will, just do not force your ways on me or on any other woman. Your daughter made a choice. We must all make our OWN choices.
