Can I Treat My Social Anxiety Without Drugs and Counseling? and How?

Question by Nightbloom: Can I treat my without drugs and counseling? And how?
I’ve done the counseling things before. And Anxiety has come up. I can’t do counseling and drugs right now. Am I doomed? What self help out there would help me. My main problems are they I feel like I’m being criticized (for instance, once in a while I wonder if facebook posts are directed at me) and also, I feel completely socially inept. And actually, Im not really that good at socializing, but if I had some good tips and advice, I guess I could get out there a bit and try, but I really don’t do well at it. It’s definitely not going to go away because of a post on Yahoo. That’s why I’m asking for advice about directions for self-help. Any advice at all?

Try immersing yourself in social situations.

I’m also trying to overcome my social anxiety issues and what i’ve learnt is that, people will like you or be interested in you if you don’t care about embarassing yourself.
Those are the people that really draw me to them, those are the people that are most fun to be with.
So my advice to you, is Don’t give a shit and Just do it and think what’s the worse that could happen.
If you talk to a guy u see sometimes in the bus or train station, what’s the worse that could happen? He’d ignore you? So what? is he the only person on this planet? Nope.

Just have a care free attitude, and the only way you will actually overcome this horrible mental disease is
1 : Doing it
whatever it might be, whether its talking or answering questions, DO IT.
then only, you’ll know its not so bad and you’ll realise why you were anxious about doing certain things in the first place.
