Is It Legal for a Clinical Psychologist in Private Practice to Mention Religion at Work?

Question by Anne: Is it legal for a clinical psychologist in private practice to mention religion at work?
By “private practice”, I mean they have their own clinic but still answer to the state or whoever makes the rules a clinical psychologist has to follow (who make rules such as the confidentiality law) . Are they allowed to say to a patient with depression “I think joining a religion would help” or things like that? Thanks.

Why does it worry you that much, as far as I see he was just merely stating some form of help which to me would not alarm me.

Its all about the way they word things. They need to pose it as, do you think joining a religious group would help you. They can give suggestions, they just aren’t suppose to let you know their religious preferences, etc.
