Would a Loving God Hurt People Like This?

Question by Claire: Would a loving god hurt people like this?
This is a question for christians.

My mother, her two sisters, and her two brothers grew up in a home where both parents smoked. As a result, they will have slight lung problems for the rest of their lives.
My mother’s father had tuberculosis. He was in a sanitarium for multiple years, isolated from his family. Because of that, her mother drew inward and shut herself off from the world. When her father finally got out, he was depressed and angry, and turned to drinking. She is now chronically depressed and takes medication which doesn’t always help.

When I was young, almost too young to remember it, my mother got . I barely remember the incident, but my sister was old enough to know what was going on. It scared her. It even scared me. Chemo helped, and the cancer went away. But now that I’m old enough to know what it was about, I live most of my life in fear that it will return.
My mom’s sister also had cancer, but luckily recovered. My first figure skating coach had breast cancer as well. She recovered too. I knew her for almost six years. Shortly after I moved to another rink, I heard that her cancer had returned. Within three months, just before Christmas, she died. She left behind a husband and two boys under 10 years old.

This Christmas, my mother got two letters from old friends.
The first informed her that one of her best friends from growing up, a girl she knew very well, had gotten cancer, gone on medication which affected her brain, written a note, and commited suicide.
The second was from another old friend. This woman has two daughters, the first about 13 and the second about 17. The woman told my mother that after her recent bitter divorce, she kicked her older daughter out of the house, and the daughter went to live with the ex-husband. She kicked her out because the daughter had turned to drugs, drinking, and had repeatedly shoplifted from stores. The old friend also told my mom that another one of their friends from childhood, a nice young girl, had died of disease. She had left behind two boys, each under 7. The boys now have to live with their uncle, because their father is in prison.

These are only a few examples from my personal life. There are countless more around the world.
My question to you is,
How can you believe that a loving god would create humans with the best intentions, and then ruin the lives of perfectly innocent, nice people, leaving their families and friends in depression and despair?
hmmm…. if god really wanted us to have promised eternity, why would he create earth? why not just make people and send them straight to heaven?

You are right. This is proof that there is not a loving, personal God.

So the brief suffering in comparison to the PROMISED eternity in a perfect HEAVEN seems to escape you I guess.
