Please provide sources that Muslims who are academically honest would accept. Such as respected Hadith or historical documents (where the originals) are traced close to the time of events.

No one is certain exactly what comprised the Koran early on, but there was an editing committee that compiled the Koran we know today.

Some time back a cache of pre-Koranic writings was discovered in Yemen but were placed in safekeeping by the Yemeni government. A group of archaeologists from Germany have microphiched copies of them but it is uncertain as to whether they will ever be released.
