Is Bi-Polar Just Another Name for Selfish?
Question by mrsmixedup: is bi-polar just another name for selfish?
I know people wont like that but im feeling really fed up of the way my husband is treating me…….
He left me with no money, moved out…….he wants me to help him now and one day calls and says he still loves me, he wants to work it out and thanks me for standing by him…….he calls and i go running to help him.
Next day he wants to be on his own, he ignores my calls, he blames me for the way his life is, blames me for him being skint even though i certainly didnt ask him to leave our comfortable home……Noone in his family knows about his condition and they all seem to have turned away from me but when i spoke to his sister she seemed to imply that they thought i had left him a broken man, she didnt even know he had left me, its like he wants everyone to feel sorry for him.
He says he wants us to try again…….then the next min says hes not coming to spend christmas with his wife and kids cos its all too weird for him to handle! How the heck we gonna try getting a life together back if its too much for him to handle 1 day!
I gave him what little money i had to buy himself provisions….and then found out hes just ordered himself a new games system at over £400……I dont know how he thinks hes going to manage after forking out for that, meanwhile im left with no money coming in from anywhere and still worrying that hes not eating right.
I wish i had the strength and distance to just be able to say sod him, lets sit back and watch him get himself into a mountain of debt, lets see who he turns to when he next goes on a downer and shuts himself away for days on end…….but i cant, i love him too much.
So is he using his disorder to just basically do what he pleases and not have to worry about the consequences?
Am i doing the right thing by being there for him constantly or should i just show him that i am getting on with my life and try to distance myself from him?

he isnt taking his medication is he?
alot of people who suffer bipolar wont take their meds.
it isnt being selfish, it is a real mental disorder. unless, of course, he is making it up and using it as an excuse.
