Starting Salary for a Physical Therapist Assistant in New Jersey?

Question by : Starting Salary for a Assistant in New Jersey?
What is the Starting Salary for a Physical Therapist Assistant in New Jersey?
I am thinking about becoming a Physical Therapist Assistant after high school, and was wondering if it was worth it. So far the job description seems like a good fit for me, as I like to workout meaning I’m in shape and love the gym, and and love helping others as well, just want to know if you can live decent with the salary. I was also thinking that after getting a degree and being certified, i would become certified as a massage therapist as well, to be able to massage patients that need it. Also I heard it is possible you earn more as a physical therapist assistant if you know how to give massages.

Thanks in advance.

For general salary information re: (regarding) PTA: http://www.bls.gov/oco/ocos167.htm

Those interested in the allied health field such as PTA should be strong in the sciences including biology, chemistry, physics and (“general” college-level) anatomy & physiology.

With regard to a PTA getting more money if having licensure as a massage therapist, but one may certainly enhance his or her skill level as a PTA with the extra training and education.

As far as schooling, please avoid those private overly priced For-profit schools such as kaplan, everest, pima medical institute, argosy, keiser, ashworth, devry, ITT tech, capella, ashford, colorado tech, westwood, art institute, concorde career college, walden and others as they are merely out to “make a profit” (** and their course credits usually do NOT transfer to other schools).

Please instead consider the more affordable community college (or state/public university) as long as the program is accredited within the industry.

For accredited PTA programs: http://www.apta.org/PTAEducation/ and can click “find a PTA education program” and then click “program type” to “PTA” or such.

Before taking prerequisite courses for PTA (or any field), however, please job shadow/observe in the various PT departments such as a physical rehabilitation hospital for patients with Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), spinal cord injury/paralysis, stroke (“brain attack”) which is a type of brain injury, other neurological disorders, hip/knee/shoulder replacement, amputated limbs, hip fracture or such – pediatric (children’s) hospital – nursing home/long-term care facility or such.
