Alcohol Makes My Stomach Pain Go Away…. Why?
Question by Lynn: Alcohol makes my stomach pain go away…. why?
I have had persistent, undiagnosable stomach pain for a year. When I drink beer it totally goes away (no, it is not from burping). Further, food KILLS my stomach and if I have a beer with it, it doesn’t. If I have a few beers, my stomach is good for a couple of days when I eat. After that, the pain comes back. What is this???
I already know that for most people alcohol makes stomach problems worse; but I am telling you: it totally eases the pain for me – pain that hasn’t been helped by ANYTHING.

well alcohol is a depressant so it could be numbing the pain for you. Have you tried fasting for a few days and getting colon therapy for your stomach pain?

Yes, alcohol could be numbing the pain, but it definately isn’t a long-term cure.
Talk to your doctor before doing any of these, I’m highly underqualified compared to them =)
First off, I would isolate your “treatment”, see if it really is the alcohol and not anything else in the beer.
Secondly, if there’s no diagnosis on why it’s been hurting, there might be a possibility of the pain being “all in your head”. I’m not saying it doesn’t hurt, I’m just saying it might be a mental thing, not a physical thing.
Finally, if the pain feels like you’ve eaten too much, it might be caused by a chemical produced by the brain. This chemical tells you that you’re full, and an overproduction could make you feel that way even after very little food.
Again, I’m not a doctor, so talk to one before trying any of these.
I hope you feel better =)
