If he does diagnose you with an anxiety disorder, there are some things you should discuss before the prescription is written. If improperly prescribed or used, anxiety medications can be dangerous.

Aside from the mentioned side effects, another dangerous fact about anxiety medications is that it can be addictive. Anxiety medications do not work that long and some people choose to take more anxiety drugs to control the symptoms. Though their original purpose is to treat anxiety symptoms, being exposed to too much anxiety drugs for too long can make you dependent on it. It wouldn’t therefore help at all because if this happens, you won’t be able to get rid of the symptoms and you will crave for anxiety drugs, and that would be very harmful.

The difficulty with taking any medication for the purpose of assisting with the management of anxiety or depression is that, generally speaking, when the extremes of emotion are stabilized, people feel comfortable, which is good, but because of this they may not be pro active in taking any steps to make their circumstances better. Sometimes people can remain on medication for a long time without addressing the causes of their anxiety or depression.
