arach refers to a web like material that arachnids or spiders produce, though scorpions are also considered arachnids.

cnid most likely means cnidaria or jellyfish and corals. It’s a Greek word, cnidos meaning stinging nettles and this is because of their nematocysts that their barbed threads have a type of poison on them.

geno is just the Latin word for people.

phys is a variant of physio which means that it is nature, natural, or physical. Like physical therapy.

-tic, http://dictionary.infoplease.com/tic or a sudden, spasmodic, painless, involuntary muscular contraction, as of the face.

-us http://wiki.answers.com/Q/What_does_the_suffix_us_mean The suffix “-US” comes from Latin, and denotes masculine gender, nominative case, and singular number. That is, it takes a part of a word and converts it into a masculine singular noun. For example, in the word “BONUS”, “BON-” means “good”, so “BONUS” is a good thing. Another example is “LOCUS”. The root “LOC-” means “place”, as in “location” or “allocate”. So “LOCUS” literally means “The place”.
The suffix “-US” is different from the suffix “-OUS”, which actually takes a word and converts it into an adjective, such as “JOY” to “JOYOUS”.
