Question by Smittywerbenyegermanjanson O: Can you become severely depressed as a reaction to an acne medicine?
I have a friend that says that he took “an acne medicine” that caused him to fall into sever depression, I was wondering is this possible or documented, with any medicine, or this acne medicine?

No the depression is really psychological, self esteem/confidence but its hardly ever from a medication even accutane it has nothing to do with depression and i tried it and it works great, flawless I would reccomend it

It depends on which medicine. If it’s something you ingest like Accutane, then it could most certainly make you depressed. Anything that you put into your body that is broken down by the liver and released into the bloodstream could have an effect – positive or negative – on the rest of the body’s systems.

Look in the drug’s package insert (the white paper that comes with all prescriptions) and see under “Warnings,” “Contraindications,” and “Side Effects” to see if depression is a possible one with this product.
