Dick B. 08 AA History & Christian Recovery: Christian Endeavor – Alcoholics Anonymous History: Dick B. explains that AA cofounder Dr. Bob Smith and his family were active in the Christian Endeavor Society of North Congregational Church, St. Johnsbury, to which they belonged. The Christian Endeavor program for young people required confession of Jesus Christ as Lord, conversion meetings, prayer meetings, Bible study meetings, Quiet Hour, and outreach. These Christian principles and practices found their way into the program and practices of the original Akron AA “Christian fellowship” program founded by Bill W. and Dr. Bob in 1935.
