Did FDR’s “New Deal” Help the Country Out of the “Great Depression” or Just Prolong It?

Question by Romeo: Did FDR’s “New Deal” Help the country out of the “Great Depression” or just prolong it?
Like a typical liberal Democrat, FDR raised taxes, increased spending on government programs, hospitals, roads, parks, etc… and increased the size of government by creating regulatory bureaus. He propped up the price of farm products by paying farmers to plow under a portion of their crops to increase the demand. I know that anti productive government jobs give people paychecks, but how does that create wealth?

Basically, FDR was a “tax and spend” liberal who created a huge money guzzling socialist government and the country didn’t make much recovery progress until the mid 1940’s when Republicans started dismantling those New Deal programs. It took 20 years for the equity market valuations to recover from the 1929 through1932 (markets fell for three years) market crash which had led to the “Great Depression”

Did FDR’s “New Deal” programs help the recovery or just slow it down?

It was World War II that actually got the nation out of the depression. FDR was trying with his various programs, but the economy was too depressed for any kind of quick government fixes.
