(Nairobi, Kenya)—There is no doubt that the east African country of Kenya contains some of the best known safari locations in Africa; the Masai Mara, Amboseli, Naivasha, Samburu, plus a naturally beautiful tropical coast.

In Swahili “safari” means “long journey” and during the month of May, many Christian doctors and medical professionals will be making that “long journey” to Kenya, not to view the exotic wild life of lions, tigers, elephants and rhinos, but instead will be hunting for evidence of “Divine Healing.” (Photo: ANS)

Organized by the World Christian Doctors’ Network (WCDN), its 9th Annual International Conference will be held at of all places, at the Safari Park Hotel in Nairobi from May 25-26, 2012.

WCDN is an interdenominational organization composed of Christian medical professionals from around the world who believe in divine healing and meet under the title of “Spirituality and Medicine.”

“We want to motivate Christian medical professionals to reflect the love of Jesus Christ and to be a witness for Him in their professional life,” said a spokesperson for the organization.

He went on to say, “Two thirds of medical schools in the US, including Harvard and Johns Hopkins, offer courses on spirituality and faith in their curriculums, largely because patients are demanding more spiritual care. According to a Newsweek poll, 84% of Americans said that ‘praying for others’ can have a positive effect on their recovery.”

Along this line of thought, a group of Christian medical doctors started WCDN to tackle issues on spirituality in the context of the Christian medical practitioner, with its main intention of influencing and equipping Christian doctors “by sharing the goodness of Christ in the form of proclaiming the Gospel principally through the healing ministry.”

As in all of their international conferences, the medical professionals will be probing cases of divine healing during their gathering in Nairobi with “verified medical evidence.” Several of them will be making presentations and afterwards, their peers will be able to question them about whether this they believe this is a demonstrable miracle or not.

“During the walk of Jesus here on earth, a major strategy He used to proclaim His Lordship was to heal the sick,” said the WCDN spokesperson. “It is our role as His expert witnesses to testify to the works of healing by the Power of God with verified medical data, therefore giving the glory to our Father God who is the Almighty and to Him who is the Healer, the Lord Jesus.”

Dr. Zipporah W. Ngumi, a Kenyan anesthetist who is chairing the Nairobi conference, explained why she believes in praying for her patients and says she has seen many healings.

“I believe in prayers of faith and I pray for my patients and I have known over and over again that God has intervened in response to those prayers,” she said. “[Doctors coming to the conference] will learn how we survive in hard economic conditions and they will also learn that we will be together as a network of Believers to support each other. And we will also hear testimonies at the conference that they will bring to us of the healings in their own nations because the power of God knows no geographical boundaries.”

One scheduled speaker, Frans J. Cronje, is a medical doctor specialized in diving, hyperbaric and aerospace medicine. He received both his medical degree and a Master’s of Science degree in Aerospace Medicine from the University of Pretoria cum laude in 1991 and 1997 respectively. His topic will be “Spiritual Roots of Disease” and he is expected to say, “With few exceptions, the Bible attributes sickness to sin. However, with the discovery of microorganisms four centuries ago, the emphasis gradually shifted towards a more material and biological understanding of the cause of disease.

“Evidence from psycho-neuro-immuno-endocrinology (PNIE), epigenetic research and functional medicine all suggest that 75 to 85% of chronic and incurable disease have associated emotional root causes,” he said. “These root causes are strikingly similar to those first described in Genesis 3–fear, guilt and shame.”
