You have probably been drinking for a long time so your body is not used to the stop of alcohol you should have continued to drink and lowered the amount after every couple days and slowly stopped now i think you should start but not too much and from there slowly stop.

A lot of times people that drink heavily are actually using alcohol as a “treatment” for a problem like anxiety or other mood-related problems. Under these circumstances, the condition is no longer treated when they stop drinking. Alcohol is very good at suppressing anxiety, so now you need to find another approach. People can learn how to manage it with the techniques at the3 link, but some types of antidepressants also help.
In your particular circumstance, it looks like you might benefit from an antidepressant such as Wellbutrin or similar drug. Its pretty common for depression, anxiety, and memory problems to go hand in hand with mild, chronic depression. Antidepressants are often very good at treating these symptoms, although it can be trial and error to find an antidepressant that works without side effects. People often need to try 2 or 3 different antidepressants before finding one that works. Make an appointment with your doc to see about treating depression and using an antidepressant.
