How Can I Stop Taking Meds for “Bi-Polar Disorder”?
Question by : How can i stop taking meds for “bi-polar disorder”?
Basically back in march i became so stressed out that i had a damn mental break down! Thats when i was referred to a dr. who basically diagnosed me with bipolar disorder. I understand I have always been an up and down person. But i have been taking Lamictal since then up to 150 mgs twice a day. I dont want to take medication anymore everyone I love says I am worse and am not myself anymore. I dont know whether or not its helping. I really dont feel any better. I am growing further and further away from my BF and my family. I hate it. My mom keeps telling me stop because its going to mess up my mind and my body later on in life. I think my main problems is that I need to talk to someone about the bad things in my life that have happened that make me this way. Not just “cure” myself with pills for the rest of my life. If you felt there was no benefit woulf you stop? I truly feel pretty much the same.

You make it sound like someone is forcing you to take the meds..
They’re only there to help you, if you feel like you are starting to cope without them then talk to your doc about tailing off your dosage with an eye to stopping completely.
Seriously, you only have them to help you.
