Is It True That Occupational Therapy Assistant Responsibilities Will Increase?

Question by Constantly Curious: Is it true that occupational therapy assistant responsibilities will increase?
I read that since medicare was going to be making HUGE reimbursment cuts, some would advance on to supervisory positions, and letting the COTAs be more involved in patient treatment planning. What do you guys think?
I already know that COTAs have more planning/evaluation responsibility than LPTAs. or is this a myth?
Thanks

The COTAs already are allowed to develop plans of care “in collaboration with an Occupational Therapist”. Regardless of any changes, this wording is not likely to change.

PTAs are technically allowed to assist under the direct supervision of the Physical Therapist.

Again these descriptions are different, due to the nature of the treatments usually provided, and the descriptions of the duties is not likely to change in the near future.
