It is widely observed that cold weather is less noticeable if you’re drunk. But why?

it’s not actually a warming effect, it drops your core temp so you ‘feel’ warmer. this is why it’s terrible/dangerous to drink while skiing/climbing/etc.

I recall it’s because it causes your skin to warm up due to the dilation of blood vessels, but this means that you’ll lose heat more rapidly.
