Michael Jackson Drug Abuse: Michael Jackson Killed Himself With Drugs and Alcohol
It is hard to believe, but the attorneys defending Dr. Conrad Murray are going to suggest Michael Jackson committed suicide. This is according to a member of the prosecution team after a recent court hearing.
“I do think it’s clear the defense is operating under the theory that the victim, Michael Jackson, killed himself,” said Deputy District Attorney David Walgren. “They don’t want to say it but that’s the direction in which they are going.”
The outrageous statement was made in front of Superior Court Judge Michael Pastor. One of Dr. Murray’s lawyers argued with the prosecutor about who should test the residue on two syringes found in Jackson’s bedroom. On Jan. 4 Pastor will make the decision whether there is enough evidence to hold Murray over for a trial.
Michael Jackson died in June of 2009 and toxicology reports determined the cause of death was an overdose of Propofol. The drug is a powerful sedative, usually administered before surgery by a licensed anesthesiologist. Other drugs were also found in Jackson’s system at the time of his death.
Murray’s attorney, J. Michael Flanagan, argued that a large amount of Propofol would have had to be present in Jackson’s body to kill him. Flanagan told the court that Dr. Murray only gave Jackson 25 milligrams of Propofol. Flanagan admitted that Murray also gave Jackson other benzodiazepines, or sedatives, to appease Jackson’s constant pleas for sleep. Jackson claimed he suffered from insomnia. Jackson’s father, Joe Jackson, has long called for Murray to be prosecuted for murder in his son’s death.
