Physiotherapy Stroke Rehabilitation: Rehabilitation Therapy and Intense Physiotherapy
For people recovering from accidents, one of the post accident treatments that are usually suggested is to undergo a physiotherapy session daily for a period of 10 to 15 days. This can be done after the recovering patient has been discharged from the hospital or during the stay in the hospital itself. After the treatment doctors primarily advise the patients to undergo physiotherapy, as it is needed to loosen the joints which have undergone a lot of stress during the accident and also during the treatment. This kind of provided physiotherapy is called rehabilitation therapy.
There are also some people who have chronic back pain and neck pain. As it is in a chronic condition, it will be very difficult for the people to go through their daily routine with heavy back pain. The pain can be in the upper back or the lower back. These pains can be both due to the work the people are doing and also due to their bad sitting posture. As people continue to sit in front of the computer for hours together, they get a stiff neck and over a period of time this stiffness leads to chronic neck pain. When people no longer could bear the pain they visit the doctor for consultation, the first thing the doctor may suggest is to put the chronic back and neck pain patients on an intense physiotherapy routine for a month or two.
Once the patient with the chronic pain visits a physiotherapy clinic, the physiotherapist examines the patient and starts the physiotherapy treatment. The treatment will usually consist of a mixture of manual mechanical movements, current therapy and heat therapy. The patient usually has to perform all these treatments within a single sitting. The duration of each type is usually 10 to 15 minutes based on the severity of the pain.
Manual movements usually involve manual movement of the abdominal to de-stress the lower back and make it supple. The patient will be advised to do this 20 to 30 times.
After this the patient will be given current treatment. In this treatment the patient will lie on top of a bed. Some sensors will be connected to the lower back portion. Once the main power is switched on, the current passes to the back area through the sensors. This current will then improve the blood circulation at the lower back. The improved blood circulation will help the patient to get rid of the back related fitness.
