How Do I Get My Emotions Back?
Question by Stef F: How do I get my emotions back? Hi, I had a psychotic episode last year triggered by an intensive meditation course. I had hallunications, delusions (believed I was the new messiah, telepathy, etc etc), almost committed suicide, and it completely freaked me out. It lasted a week. I have been recovering since. I’ve been through a severe depression this year and have been trying to build myself and my life back together. Now I’m getting much better – I’ve been back at work for five months, I am on medication, and am seeing a psychiatrist and counsellor. Read more... ...

Was the Chemical Imbalance Theory of “Mental Illness” Created Just Because It Can’t Be Tested?
by Ayurvedic-Medicine Question by John Schmidt: was the chemical imbalance theory of “mental illness” created just because it can’t be tested? I think of this from a socio-political perspective. Since people with alleged “mental illnesses” are to be controlled, first step is to establish a supposedly objective standard to why call them mentally ill. Today it is the nonsensical “chemical imbalance” theory. Why don’t people with parkinson’s disease or alzhaimers get “treated” against their will, they certainly have brain diseases? And is it morally right to “treat” someone against their expressed wishes? Best answer: Read ...

What Research Is Being Done on Depression?
Question by Mother Superior Jump The Gun For I Am The Walrus: What research is being done on Depression? & Are they searching for a cure? Best answer: Answer by Mad MacI entered “clinical depression/current research” in a Yahoo! web search and found several pertinent links. A thorough discussion of “Research on Depression” by James Hunter and NIMH can be accessed in, www.psychcentral.com/disorders/depressionresearch.htm… There is no cure for depression as it is a normal emotion, one of 6-8 basic ones you are born with and you need it in order to live, as it is a natural signal to change course in your thinking, behavior and/or environment, which currently are not the best for you. It is only a disorder if prolonged and/or extreme when it is called clinical depression etc. Read more... ...
