Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) is a very difficult disorder to live with. Those with this BPD have difficulties managing strong emotions and forming healthy relationships with those closest to them, such as significant others and family. BDP is a relational problem, and at it’s core are abandonment issues. There are many excellent treatments for treating Borderline Personality Disorder, or BPD. The most common treatment modalities include DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), and medications. DBT focuses on teaching people how to better manage their thoughts and feelings. It is often done in group settings with a trained professional. CBT works at replacing negative thoughts and behaviors associated with BPD. Medications target the symptoms accompanying BDP, which are often Depression and Anxiety.
