I have somewhat of a social anxiety, but its not terribly bad, i don’t have panic attacks, I just don’t do too well with conversations and such and care too much abt what people think… but I decided I don’t want to do meds, bc I searched on YA if it was best and saw lots of answers saying they just make you sleepy and some are addicting.. and I don’t want that for myself… so .. hows CBT like.. if you could give me some exercises your therapist gave you so I can see how its like..or tips on overcoming this, shyness :) Read ...

I have a 13 year old female English Setter that always wants to be with me no matter what I may be doing. Have tried “Reconcile” aka Prozac without much success. How Long Would It Take to Diagnose Bipolar Disorder or Manic Depression?

Question by Meredith: How long would it take to diagnose Bipolar Disorder or Manic Depression? I am a nineteen year old female and I’m fairly certain I may be bipolar. I have the family history and “symptoms” to support this, however I know the dangers of self-diagnosing so I have opted to see a psychiatrist. My appointment is tomorrow, but I was just wondering if he will diagnose me after one session, or if it will take multiple sessions before he diagnoses me. I know that I will have to seek prolonged treatment if I am in fact bipolar, but I’m just curious as to how long it will take for him to come to a conclusion, whether it be Bipolar Disorder or something else.
