What Are Jobs That Work With Autistic Children and Children With Special Needs?

Question by Anna: What are jobs that work with autistic children and children with special needs?
I really love kids with special needs. I would love to be some sort of “therapist” for them. However, I do not want to work in a school system. I want a hands-on job that works with them. Any suggestions?

Hippotherapy would be great, if you like horses. It’s therapy for young children, and both physically and mentally handicapped children. There are probably a few ranches around your area that have programs. You should definitely get involved in that, and if they don’t want to hire you, then offer to volunteer your time. Even though you won’t be getting paid if you volunteer, it could lead to a job if there’s ever an opening, and you’ll have the experience to be able to do the job much better than you would have if you had gone into it blindly.
