Question by angieJV: What is an okay STARTING dose for anxiety medication “xanax”?
My doctor prescribed me an anxiety medication called xanax. Im really nervous to take it cause I don’t like taking medicine at all. I have very bad anxiety problems where it is starting, ell more than starting to impact my life in negative ways. anyways I just wanted to see if this is indeed a good dose for a person who is just starting out taking this medication. its 0.5 milligrams of xanax? is this a lot, will it make me feel weird, this is what im nervous about! I mean I realize it will a little probably but nothing major right?! Is it a good beginers dose?

Heey,
I have anxiety as well, except my medication is called Ativan. My medication is also 0.5mg, it isn’t really a lot. That’s a good beginners dose.
BUT, anxiety pills are addictive. Once you start taking them everyday, it’s REALLY hard to stop. If i were you (this is what i do as well) only take them as NEEDED. Like, when you really can’t relax or whatever. This might not be everyday and it’ll reduce the chances of you getting addicted. Once you take one, you’ll feel really relaxed and at ease. If you have anymore questions, just edit your question again, and i’ll answer : )
