What Is Physical Therapy?

For the past 2 years i have had serious lower back issues. The last 6 months it has started affecting my legs. I went to the doctor yesterday and she said “that i need physical therapy.” So im curious what is physical therapy? What will they do there? and does physical therapy help the pain forever? I have to go for 6 weeks, so im curious if in those 6 weeks will my back be healed forever. Thanks in advance for any information that you have for me!

I also have this problem. I had x-rays of my lower back and was given exercises to do to address the problem, but they were not effective. My internist referred me to an orthopedic dr. and he had me get an MRI of my lumbar spine and I did try 6 weeks of PT where the therapist gave me exercises to do at home and she also did some exercises during my sessions, but they did not relieve the pain. I was then referred to a spine specialist and he saw (on the MRI ) where the problem was and I have been getting lumbar epidural injections/cortisone. (I have had 2 so far and I will have my third one next week.) So I’m still working on it. There is a definite connection b/t your lumbar vertebrae and your legs. I also have been referred to a spine surgeon for a possible laminectomy…but that is going to be a LAST resort for me.
Try the PT and see if it gives you relief. But it sounds like you need an MRI to see what’s going on in your lumbar area.

supposed to help healing but guess what….Chiropractors are alot better….ive been seeing one since 92….theyre grrreat….try it on monday…
