What Is the Criteria for “Depressed Bipolar II Disorder?”?

Question by Rhonda J: What is the criteria for “Depressed Bipolar II Disorder?”?
I was recently diagnosed with both Mild Aspergers Syndrome/Autism, and “Depressed Bipolar II Disorder.” Now, I would like to know what the criteria is, seeing as it’s not regular Bipolar Disorder, but a disorder that involves more lows than highs. Can anyone tell me how long a hypomanic episode would last in this type of Bipolar?

Answer by an unquiet mind.
No it is normal Bipolar disorder. it is called Bipolar II – most recent episode depressive.

You must have at least one or more major depressive episode where the depressed or low mood is severe and lasts all day every day for the minimum of 2 WEEKS.

You must also have one or more hypomanic episodes where the high mood lasts all day everyday for 4 days minimum.

in Bipolar II it can be anything from 4 days to 4 months. i’m Bipolar II and my longed episode lasted 3 months. My shortest is about 5 days.
