Who Is More Likely to Be Diagnosed With “Social Anxiety”, Men or Women?

Question by ?GlindaHiWatt?: Who is more likely to be diagnosed with “social anxiety”, men or women?
When I was growing up, people were just “shy”. Not a big deal. But now, diagnoses of “social anxiety” results in anti-depressants and other drugs, plus therapy.

BQ: What’s the difference between being shy and being socially anxious/awkward?

Well I heard girls are more likely to have social anxiety but I believe that gender has nothing to do with it.

The difference between being shy and being socially awkward is that when you’re shy, you don’t like being around people and you don’t like to be outgoing. When you’re socially awkward, you are scared to be around people and scared to be outgoing. My brother is socially awkward and has aspergers so I think I know the difference. Like he gets scared to go into public restaurants and malls. My sister is shy but she’s cool when she wants to be.

Women, men aren’t scared of anything (except America where men act like women and women act like men… pathetic)
