Will a Job Hire Me if I Have Tested “dirty”?

Question by Vivian: will a job hire me if i have tested “dirty”?
I have a medical marijuana card and I don’t just sit around smoking all day. Just before bed. I would never come to work high. I am very responsible. Also a reliable employee. Of course they would have no way of knowing that until your on the job….just like a person who drinks alcohol. Really any employees that are hired..I thought employers checked things like work history and experience maybe even reputation of your work ethics and skills. As long as whatever it is you do stays in your home and you keep it separate from work„ and maintain your position as a reliable top employee. Why should a job drug test if they are hiring based on eligibility..?

Drugs affect you mentally. They alter your state of mind. A company is legally liable for anything that you do while on the job. If you make a mistake, they are the ones who pay the price. That could be anything from an accounting error, to being slower than normal, or an accident with heavy equipment.

You say you only use it at bed, and it’s for a medical reason. That may provide an exemption, but don’t count on it. A company can still require that you not be under the influence while you are at work, just like alcohol.
